Then, connect the other red clamp to the + pole of the working battery. Finally, connect the black jumper cable to the - pole of the charged battery. Ground the cable for safety: Place the other black clamp over the designated jumper point on the vehicle with an empty battery, on a metal part of the engine, or on an unpainted metal surface.
